WASHINGTON—Charisa Ausfahl is using her passion for photography to help teens who struggle with self-esteem and depression.

The owner and operator of Charisa Studios, 24363 Spring Creek Road, has created Purposed Generation. The nonprofit was conceived as a way to help teens ages 13-17 gain a positive outlook on themselves through custom photography sessions that emphasize their gifts and passions.

Ausfahl believes much of the answer to teen depression and suicide is in the fact that “they’ve lost an anchor in life.”

“They’ve lost that they’ve been created by God, and everything about them has been created for a purpose,” she said.
