Pouring prayer on Peoria

The local National Day of Prayer service was held inside due to the threat of rain, but prayer leaders prayed for the Holy Spirit to be poured out.

Peoria (and surrounding environs), you’ve been prayed for.

About 75 people turned out for the Peoria gathering of the 74th annual National Day of Prayer on Thursday. The event moved inside the Agape School of Supernatural Ministry at 610 Abington St. due to a consistent threat of rain.

However, nothing dampened the passionate worship and supplications made inside the worship area.

The Church Has Left The Building, a pop-up praise-and-worship ensemble, offered several songs to begin the evening, leading worshippers to dance, blow shofars, and raise hands.

“It’s like a family reunion,” organizer Adam Moser of Innovative Faith Ministries said as he introduced the evening. “We know God’s smiling down from heaven when we’re together.”

After Moser introduced the year’s theme of “Pour Out to the God of Hope and Be Filled,” based on Romans 15:13, he asked that God’s “fire would burn up everything in the way of what You have for us, that You come and break the chains that bind our area.”

Several speakers then led prayers on several topics before attendees broke up into small groups to pray together.
