Mr. Glass produces barbers with values

The barber and businessman, who is also a preacher, helps students apply values to skills.

Jorell Glass, owner of Mr. Glass Tonsorial Christian Institute, relaxes in a barber's chair in the school, 3019 N. Sterling Ave., Peoria.

PEORIA–Jorell Glass has combined his ministry experience and barbering background to create a “counter-institution” that produces barbers with values and skills.

Mr. Glass Tonsorial Christian Institute, located at 3019 N. Sterling Ave., is a barber school that has produced more than a dozen graduates since 2022. Many of those graduates have worked at The Shave Room at 456 Fulton St. in the Twin Towers, which Glass also operates, and some have gone on to start their own businesses. Some also still rent chairs at the school (walk-in cuts there cost $10, or $15 with a beard trim).
