[Heart of Illinois Christian Movie Central](https://christianmoviecentral.com/?ref=amenpeoria.com) founder Rich Gerberding had connected with director Dallas Jenkins in 2010 when CMC spotlighted the Jenkins film “[What If …](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1468387?ref=amenpeoria.com)” and they remained friends. Jenkins, who has family connections in central Illinois, arranged with Gerberding to bring his new project, “The Chosen,” to Peoria in 2019 for a screening and presentation in a room at Northwoods. About 45 people attended to see the first two episodes of "The Chosen."
